GoPro has released a beta firmware that will allow you to use your HERO8 Black as a 1080p high-definition, wide-angle webcam on any computer running macOS.
Before you begin, you will need to make sure that you have a microSD card reader, USB cable, your computer and your GoPro HERO8 Black close by.
You will also need to download and install the GoPro Webcam Utility which you can find here.
One thing to note. The firmware update doesn’t allow the audio feed to be captured by the camera, so if you need audio, you will need to use your computer’s microphone, AirPods or an external microphone attached to your computer.
Finally, while there isn’t a PC version yet, GoPro has indicated that there is one in development, so hopefully non MAC users won’t have to wait too long.
