    GoPro Hero9 Black

The GoPro Hero9 Black features 5K video recording, 20MP stills, improved HyperSmooth 3.0 stabilization, a front-facing colour display, improved battery life and more!

At the core of the camera is a 23.6MP sensor that is capable of capturing up to 5K/30p footage and 14.7MP screen grabs.

It can also capture 1080/240p (8x) slow motion and 4K time-lapse footage using the improved TimeWarp 3.0 feature.

And if you like to shoot in the dark, Night Lapse mode captures and processes in-camera, stunning time lapse video at up to 4K resolution.

    Image Stabilization

The upgraded HyperSmooth 3.0 image stabilization keeps your footage rock steady and features in-camera horizon levelling up to 45° of tilt.

On the stills side of things, The Hero9 captures 20MP images, a big boost over the 12MP that the Hero8 Black was capable of.

If you’re in a hurry to share your captured glory, the SuperPhoto feature can pick and apply the optimal image processing options for you.

Portrait orientation gives you the ability to capture both video and still images in a vertical format rather than just landscape format.

    Webcam Mode

The Webcam mode allows you to use the Hero9 as a 1080p webcam to live stream directly to Facebook Live, YouTube or Twitch.

Note: You need to download and run the GoPro Webcam Beta software* in order to do so.

*Available for MacOS at time of release, Windows version still in development.

    Exterior Features

The front-facing screen, first introduced on the Hero8, now features full colour and allows you to live preview and frame your shots.

On the back, the rear touch screen has also been enlarged making it easier to access the controls and review your footage.

Battery life has been improved by 30% and offers better cold weather performance.

There is also a new built-in mount that folds up into the bottom of the camera when not in use.

Finally, the Hero9 is waterproof down to 33 feet (10 Metres) without a housing, meaning you can dive right in to the action right out of the box.

    Accessory “Mods”

GoPro has also announced the Max Lens Mod, an all-new, ultra-wide angle twist-on lens mod that give you a 155° field of view and “unbreakable” Max HyperSmooth stabilization at up to 2.7K/60p.

The Max Lens Mod also features Horizon lock that will keep videos on the horizontal or vertical axis even if the camera is mounted off-centre or rotates a full 360°.

Also upcoming is the Hero9 “Media Mod” (available October 2020) which adds a built-in directional mic with wind suppression, 3.5mm mic port, HDMI-out and two cold-shoe mounts on which to mount additional accessories.

Of course the Hero9 is also compatible with previous “Mods” including the “Light Mod” and the “Display Mod” all of which are sold separately.
