Canon CR-N700 4K PTZ Camera to get pay for video production features

Canon has announced that their flagship PTZ (Pan-ZoomTilt) camera, the CR-N700 4K PTZ will be getting some notable upgrades via an upcoming firmware update that will include a feature they are calling the “Add-on Applications System.

The Add-On Applications System for PTZ remote cameras will provide access to several new paid video production features, starting with auto tracking and auto loop applications for the camera.

Canon plans to expand the number of add-on applications offered after the initial launch of the application system as well as the lineup of compatible remote camera models.

The thing that makes this stand out from other competitor PTZ models, is that the initial add-on applications will run from within the camera itself, rather than requiring an external device to operate the auto tracking and auto loop applications.

Next, we’ll tell you what each of the initial add-on applications do.

Auto Tracking Add-On Application

The Auto Tracking application will enable automatic tracking according to a subject’s movements, allowing the camera to pan, tilt, and zoom to maintain the subject’s composition as the subject moves within in the frame.

Canon says that the auto tracking is highly responsive, allowing for full/upper body, and head and torso tracking at both slow and normal walking speeds, as well as full and upper body tracking at a fast walking speed.

It will also provide operators with a wide range of adjustment functions including composition, tracking sensitivity, priority display area, fixed viewing angle area, tracking target auto select, pan/tilt halting area, initial position, auto select exclusion, and pan/tilt operation control.

Canon says that the auto tracking application will be ideal for operators in markets such as house of worship and corporate event streaming, educational workshops and lectures as well as broadcast and corporate style interviews.

Auto Loop Add-On Application

The auto loop application will help to automate repeated camera movements allowing operators to choose between two repeated movements, loop or back-and-forth, based on the situation.

Operators will also be able to adjust acceleration and deceleration when starting and stopping movement between the two presets as well as adjust settings such as position, route, preview and start from a single screen.

Canon says that the auto loop add-on application will be ideal for operators in markets such as house of worship and corporate event streaming, broadcast and over-the-top (OTT) sports and interview streaming as well as commercial production.
