    New Sigma Lenses

Say hello to two new lenses from Sigma: the ultra-wide-angle 12mm f/1.4 DC Contemporary and 200mm f/2 DG OS Sports telephoto. They couldn’t be more different, but between them, these two lenses have you totally covered.

The 12mm f/1.4 Contemporary achieves the widest angle of view among f/1.4 lenses currently available for APS-C cameras. The 200mm f/2 Sports is the world’s first 200mm f/2 telephoto prime for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Let’s see what else sets them apart.

Sigma seems determined to corner the market with its ever-expanding range of large-aperture wide-angle lenses. This latest model follows in the footsteps of the recently launched 24mm and 20mm offerings in its Art lineup, boasting similar specs but retailing at a more affordable price point.

In the Contemporary line, these focal lengths span 16mm, 23mm, 30mm, 56mm and now 12mm.

And that’s what takes the lineup to whole new level. With such an expansive field of view and a bright maximum aperture, this lens is capable of capturing everything from stunning nightscape street shots to spectacular astrophotography.

Compact and lightweight, it’s geared to maximum portability and mobility and ideally suited to the APS-C mirrorless systems it’s designed for. Although not technically waterproof, the lens is however dust- and splash-resistant and features water- and oil-repellent coatings.

Currently available in Sony E-mount, Canon RF mount and Fujifilm X mount, the lens is equipped with an aperture ring designed for intuitive tactile control, but the Canon RF version features a control ring instead, allowing you to assign functions according to your own personal preferences.

    Features

    • APS-C format
    • f/1.4 to f/16 aperture range
    • Rounded nine-blade diaphragm
    • Three aspherical and three SLD elements
    • Stepping motor AF system
    • Water- and oil-repellent coating

It’s been more than a year since Sigma launched its last Sports telephoto prime, the colossal 500mm f/5.6 DG DN OS.

The new model shares certain attributes with the former, including the full-frame format for mirrorless cameras and the E-mount/L-mount availability, but the similarities end there.

At a manageable 200mm, this is the ideal focal length to unlock your creative potential in applications ranging from portraits to fast-moving indoor sports.

In fact, the lens is equipped with two optical stabilization modes, the first for general shooting and the second optimized specifically for panning shots of motorsports and other sports, which remains effective even when the camera is moving vertically or diagonally.

Weighing in at a hefty 1,820g, the lens features a newly designed tripod socket that doubles as a convenient carrying handle. The tripod ring incorporates a 90-degree click mechanism for smooth, safe and secure rotation, and the foot is Arca-Swiss compatible.

    • f/2 to f/22 aperture range
    • High-speed AF motor
    • 6.5-stop stabilization
