The Tamron 35-100mm f/2.8 Di III VXD zoom fills a gap in the company’s current lineup of fast full-frame Sony E- and Nikon Z-mount lenses. Launched in response to user demand for such a niche product, this new lens serves as a more compact and lightweight alternative to the popular 35-150mm F/2-2.8 Di III VXD, released in 2021.

The latter garnered praise for its outstanding imaging performance at the time, but some photographers balked at its bulk and expressed a need for something lighter.
Tamron responded by focusing on what it considered the most essential portrait focal lengths, capping it at 100mm to limit the lens’s overall weight and dimensions, now clocking in at just 565g and 119.2mm.
As expected, the 35-100mm f/2.8 delivers a level of image quality and soft bokeh reminiscent of its immediate predecessor. It also uses the same VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor to provide fast, accurate AF that’s ideal for capturing candid everyday moments.
Although primed for portrait photography, these features combine to make this lens the perfect choice for everything from tight tabletop shots to street photography and panoramic travel photography as well.
This superb new welcome addition to the lineup is Tamron’s 22nd Sony E-mount and 10th Nikon Z-mount lens.
