The new Sony PXW-Z300 camcorder is gamer changer. For starters, this is the world’s first camcorder with the ability to embed digital signatures directly into video files and enable content authentication, a boon to content-creation professionals at a time of increasingly widespread digital manipulation and confounding deepfakes.
But Sony’s next-gen flagship handheld XDCAM camcorder has much more to offer than just that.
The PXW-Z300 boasts many of Sony’s most advanced digital imaging technologies, including three 1/2-type 4K Exmor R CMOS image sensors, the latest BIONZ XR image-processing engine and a state-of-the-art AI processing unit enabling 4K60p video capture with subject-recognition autofocus.
Those image sensors are designed specifically for newsgathering and production applications, capturing highly detailed, realistic images in 3840×2160 resolution with a broad depth of field, low noise and superb dynamic range.

This highly portable handheld camcorder is optimized for maximum workflow efficiency in multiple ways, including a flexible LCD arm to support various shooting styles and a side V-Mount for quick and easy attachment of accessories. A grip connector enables shoulder-style operation with an optional shoulder adapter and grip remote control.
Connectivity options include SDI (12G, 6G, 3G Level A/, and HD) out, TC in/out (switchable), genlock input and reference out, with multiple interfaces including HDMI Type-A, USB Type-C, LAN and REMOTE. Video output is available simultaneously from both SDI and HDMI.
Multiple recording format options include 4K (60P/50P/30P/25P/24P) and HD (60P/60i/50P/50i/30P/25P/24P). Dual card slots support both CFexpress Type A and SDXC UHS-II/UHS-I memory cards.
