The new DJI Avata 360 leads the way

Say hello to the new Avata 360, the latest offering in DJI’s popular lineup of entry-level drones and the first to feature a built-in 360-degree camera.

The DJI Avata 360 FPV drone delivers a full 360-degree view with multiple angles to choose from in post.

With the launch of the original Avata in 2022, DJI aimed to bring an affordable, easy-to-use FPV model to the masses. They succeeded with flying colours.

Next came the Avata 2 in 2023, featuring a larger sensor for better 4K HDR footage, a longer transmission range and improved battery life.

As you’d expect, the new Avata 360 offers a healthy suite of improvements that take this series to the next level. And as the name suggests, one of the biggest enhancements can be seen in the drone’s 360-degree capabilities.

In fact, this is the first DJI drone to directly integrate a native 360-degree camera system into the aircraft and only the second such model currently available on the market.

With a 360 camera, one lens faces up while the other faces down to capture a perfect sphere completely surrounding the drone. As a result, you can get the full 360-degree view in a single foray.

You don’t have to worry about getting perfectly framed shots while in motion either. With multiple camera angles to choose from, you can reframe everything later in post.

You’ve also got infinite rotation and tilt control at your fingertips. Even when flying in one direction, you can rotate the horizons effortlessly, create dolly zoom effects and more.

Additional features include the 04+ system that delivers high-definition, high-frame-rate video transmission within an extended range of up to 20km, and the Spotlight Free feature that lets you lock effortlessly on to fast-moving subjects.

You can fly the craft safely at night thanks to nocturnal omnidirectional obstacle sensing, and the integrated propeller guard gives it another layer of safety.

DJI claims that with its Avata 360, “360-degree imaging enters a new era,” which might sound like a bit of a stretch at first blush, but upon closer inspection of this highly capable model, it’s easy to see that they might be onto something.

Also available as an accessorized kit in the DJI Avata 360 Fly More Combo and DJI Avata 360 Motion Fly More Combo with DJI Goggles N3 included.
