From photographers and cinematographers to gaffers and lighting technicians, this 400W next-gen point-source LED fixture hits the sweet spot with its flawless combination of compact form factor and pro-level performance.
As with the others, this new model also shares the same groundbreaking foundation as its earlier Storm 1200x and pricier XT52 predecessors: Aputure’s proprietary BLAIR LED chipset, an advanced five-diode design that incorporates blue, lime, amber, indigo and red (hence “BLAIR”) emitters.
It’s this technology that accounts for the highly efficient spectral blending and unparalleled white-light accuracy that combine to create a colour-accurate lighting solution and can be easily adapted to suit the needs of various shooting environments.
Housed in a robust and durable IP65 weather-resistant body, the Storm 400x also features Aputure’s unique ProLock system, a highly secure clamping design for attaching modifiers and keeping Bowens Mount accessories held rigidly in place.

The Storm 400x also uses an intelligent cooling system with four fan modes – smart, high, medium and silent – that you can adjust in response to shifting ambient shooting noise conditions.
Plus you’ve got extensive control capabilities – Sidus Link and Sidus Link Pro app, LumenRadio CRMX and 16-bit DMX512 in/out – allowing you to integrate the Storm 400x into a wide variety of lighting environments with effortless versatility and incredible ease.
Accompanying today’s launch is the fully compatible CF7 Fresnel and barn doors kit that combine to intensify the Storm 400x daylight (5600K) output by 7.8 times to 232,000 lux at 1 metre.
