The optical formula includes two extreme aspherical and two extra-low dispersion glass elements to suppress aberrations and deliver superior edge-to-edge resolution. The 11-blade aperture contributes to superbly refined bokeh.
Fast tracking makes it easy to keep up with highly active (and not always cooperative) subjects, not to mention the 120 fps maximum speed of cameras like the α9 III.
As you’d expect, the Sony FE 100mm f/2.8 GM OSS is also built to withstand challenging outdoor conditions, featuring buttons and switches sealed with silicone gaskets and a rubber ring sealing the lens mount. The front element uses a fluorine coating to repel contaminants and make it easier to clean.
