The Sony FX2 builds on the strengths of the already impressive FX3 Cinema Camera, by introducing a series of enhancements and innovations tailored to meet the nuanced and demanding needs of professional filmmakers and ambitious content creators.
Offering significantly improved low-light performance, thanks to its 33MP full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ XR image processor engine, the FX2 can capture breathtaking visuals even in the most challenging lighting conditions.
With up to 15+ stops of latitude when recording with S-Log3, and a base ISO for S-Log3 capture that can be set to 800 or 4000, the FX2 ensures even high-contrast scenes are captured in full detail.
There are three modes to choose from when recording in Log, Flexible ISO, Cine EI (widely used in professional filmmaking for footage shot with post-production), and Cine EI Quick.
S-Gamut3/S-Gamut3.Cine colour gamuts are also supported for broader editing compatibility in post production.

When shooting full-frame 4K, the FX2 captures 7K oversampled footage with full pixel readout and no pixel binning. 4K 60p recording is also available in Super 35mm mode.
Professional quality 10-bit depth, 4:2:2 colour sampling, an efficient MPEG-H HEVC/H.265 codec, and Intra recording including DCI-4K are also supported.
The HDMI Type-A terminal enables 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit or 16-bit RAW video output at 4672 x 2628 resolution, (DCI-4K resolution also supported) to an external recorder for flexible post-production. Footage can be simultaneously captured with proxy recording to an internal memory card.
Autofocus Features
Its advanced autofocus capabilities ensure that even the slightest movements are captured with precision.
Thanks to its AI processing unit, the FX2 is capable of Real-time Recognition AF for humans, animals, birds, vehicles and even insects!
It also uses advanced human pose estimation technology to accurately recognizes subject movement, and Sony says that human eye recognition has been improved by about 30% when compared to the FX3/FX30.
The AF Assist feature allows seamless switching to manual focus for smooth focus transitions, offering a range of 7 autofocus transition speed settings and 5 sensitivity settings.
The FX2’s Auto Framing feature automatically crops and tracks a subject to keep them in a prominent position when the camera is mounted on a tripod, while the Framing Stabilizer function will automatically keep the subject in the same position within the frame.
Other Features
Two card slots support SDXC/SDHC UHS-II/UHS-I memory cards, with one also supporting CFexpress Type A.
The high-capacity NP-FZ100 battery can provide up to 155 minutes of continuous shooting. For longer shooting times, continuous power can be supplied via a power adaptor or a mobile battery that supports USB Power Delivery (PD).
Sony’s optional DC-C1 DC Coupler can also supply stable power without occupying the camera’s USB Type-C terminal.
With Sony’s XLR Handle Unit XLR-H1 attached, the FX2 can record high-quality audio via two XLR connectors and a digital audio interface without the need for extra batteries or cables. Four-channel audio, 24-bit recording, and other settings can also be easily applied.
The FX2 is also capable of live streaming to a computer via USB (UVC/UAC) or a wireless or wired network connection at up to 4K 60p while simultaneously recording to the camera’s memory card.
