The new V-RAPTOR XE represents the next step in RED’s ongoing drive to keep filmmakers up to speed with the latest advances in its flagship DSMC3 camera platform and deliver the unparalleled image quality of its large-format global-shutter sensor to a wider segment of the community.

Launched with great fanfare by RED Digital Cinema in 2021, the V-RAPTOR line of box-type cine cams includes the original 8K VV model, followed by the larger V-RAPTOR XL and the Super35 (S35) version in 2023.
Next came the groundbreaking V-RAPTOR [X] with a game-changing global shutter, including a Nikon Z mount-compatible model earlier this year.
Building on the success of that platform, the V-RAPTOR XE enables R3D recording at up to 8K VV 60p, 4K 120p and 2K 240p for exceptional high-resolution, high-frame-rate digital video capture.
Like its predecessors, the new V-RAPTOR XE is designed for high-end motion picture and television production, as well as filmmakers who need an advanced all-in-one cine cam solution, with an emphasis on virtual production workflows.
To create a slightly more stripped-down and somewhat more affordable option, the XE eliminates some advanced Global Vision features, including Phantom Track and Extended Highlights.

For complete remote control convenience in any environment, the IP-connected V-RAPTOR XE retains in-camera cloud upload integration with Frame.io or AWS, plus RED Control and RED Control Pro compatibility via wireless or wired configuration.
It also features two 12G SDIs and capacity for CFexpress Type B media for up to 800MB/s recording.
The V-RAPTOR XE is currently available in Nikon Z Mount and Canon RF Mount versions, along with a Cine Essentials Pack for each, which both include the V-RAPTOR XE camera system, PL adapter pack with electronic ND filters, seven-inch LCD touchscreen and KOMODO outrigger handle.
The adapter pack integrates the same precise electronic ND control as used in the V-RAPTOR XL to create a reliable PL mount solution. The pack also includes two filters: a clear one for when no ND is needed and an electronic ND filter with a two- to seven-stop range.
