    Profoto Pro-D3 Monolight

Designed for high-volume shooting environments, the Pro-D3 is the latest monolight from Profoto, setting a new standard for professional, high-volume image content creation.

The Pro-D3 offers photographers versatility and robust performance as well as wireless connectivity, compatibility with a wide range of accessories and lastly, multiple kit options that are designed to suit the needs of any photographer.

    Power, Flash Modes and Functionality

The Pro-D3 is available in two different power options, the 750Ws and the 1250Ws, both of which are incredibly fast with recycle times as short as 0.0001 seconds

Each model boasts an impressive 11 f-stop power adjustment range in 0.1 f-stop increments, allowing the light to be fine-tuned with greater accuracy.

The Pro-D3 also offer 3 different flash modes ECO, Boost and Freeze with each offering a different lighting characteristic.

    • ECO Mode: Optimizes the flash parameters offering consistent colour output in addition to helping to maximize equipment lifetime.
    • BOOST Mode: Provides an additional boost of power for more demanding and difficult lighting situations.
    • FREEZE Mode: Offers the shortest flash duration, making it ideal for capturing sharp images in fast action as well as splashing liquids.

It is also equipped with an energy-efficient LED modeling light that boasts brightness greater than that of a 400-watt halogen lamp with only 15% of the power consumption.

Profoto says this helps to ensure a daylight-balanced colour temperature and consistent light spread, mirroring the flash output for accurate pre-visualization.

    Build and Compatibility

The Pro-D3 includes a light stand adapter featuring a rosette clamp to help prevent slippage when using heavier modifiers.

It is also fully compatible with Profoto’s extensive range of modifiers and supports remote control through the Profoto Camera and Profoto Control smartphone apps via Bluetooth.

Additionally, the Pro-D3 supports a wide range of Profoto’s battery series including the B10, B1X, and B1, allowing it to integrate with existing equipment.

On the front of the light, the built-in deflector and glass diffusion plate neatly conceals a user-changeable flash tube, ensuring users can’t accidently touch the flash-tube.

The back of the light features a three-button interface allowing for simplified control and a large, well lit LCD screen that provides current settings information as well as access to a more intuitive menu system.

There is also a 3.5mm sync port for those preferring or requiring wired connections and a USB-C port allowing for future firmware updates.

    Profoto AirX Technology

The Pro-D3 also incorporates Profoto’s outstanding AirX technology, which operates on a robust 2.4 GHz frequency band, allowing strobes to be remotely controlled and triggering directly from the camera.

It also supports essential functions such as Sync, TTL, HSS (High-Speed Sync), and remote control through both Air 1 and Air 2 remotes.

Finally, the light has a wireless operating range of up to 100 meters (330 feet), (up to 300 meters (1000 feet) in optimal conditions), when using Profoto remotes and up to 30 meters (90 feet) when using Bluetooth devices.
