    Profoto A2 “super-compact” monolight

    VistekBy VistekJune 29, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read
    Profoto A2 Light

The Profoto A2 might be their smallest monolight to date, but it doesn’t lack in the quality of light or other features that are associated with their larger models.

Profoto A2 Light Side viewMeasuring only 12.6 x 7.9 x 7.9 cm, and weighing 773 g (with stand adapter and battery), the A2 is quite a bit smaller than their next smallest monolight, the B10 (17.5 x 11 x 10 cm | 1.5 kg with stand adapter and battery) making it even more portable.

The A2 also boasts 100W of power and an almost instantaneous .01-1.6s recycle time.

When set to continuous light, the A2 features up to 200 lumens of output with 3500k colour temp, a CRI of >80  and is dimmable from 100% down to 10%.

The A2 also features AirX connectivity built-in, allowing you to use the A2 along with other Profoto lights using any camera, including your smartphone’s at up to 100m.

Profoto A2 Light Back viewOn the back of the light, you will find a large user-friendly display and knobs allowing you to easily change or adjust settings.

The built-in AirX also allows the light to be controlled from a smartphone when using the Profoto Control app or using the (sold separately) Profoto Connect Pro or Profoto Connect Air remote/transmitters.

As with the A1 on camera flash series, the A2 is compatible with the Profoto Clic System.

If you aren’t familiar, the Profoto Clic system is a series of light shaping tools, including  softboxes, grids and gels, designed to work with any A-series flash.

And with the new Clic OCF Adapter II attached, it’s possible to use Profoto’s entire range of OCF light shaping tools.

Finally, the A2 is powered by Profoto’s A-series battery MkII offering up to 400 full power flashes on a single charge and a recharge time of less that 2 hours when using the A-series battery charger.
