FUJIFILM X-T200: Something for Everyone, Especially Videographers…

Fujifilm X-T200

At first glance, the handsome new Fujifilm X-T200 might look familiar. As it should. This mid-range entry-level mirrorless still bears more than a slight resemblance to its immediate predecessor – the popular X-T100 – and also retains many of its best features. But with this new model, Fujifilm has addressed a few of its earlier shortcomings and introduced some welcome updates, both inside and out. The result is a no-nonsense, all-purpose everyday camera you’d be comfortable taking along just about anywhere.

New Ergonomic Handgrip

LCD vari-angle touch screen

For starters, the ergonomic handgrip, absent on the T100, is a nice new addition that’ll make for much easier handling – especially in tandem with an enlarged thumb rest – but it’s the new LCD display that really grabs the attention. Bright, sharp and large (3.5 inches), it boasts an easy-to-navigate touch screen interface and – best of all – now tilts in three directions. To complement this classy-looking exterior, the X-T200 comes in three stylish metallic shades: silver, dark silver and champagne gold.

Inside, there’s an updated CMOS sensor, still 24MP but now copper-wired rather than with aluminum – and the difference is palpable. Read-out speed is more than tripled, reducing the dreaded rolling shutter effect significantly, and ISO has now been boosted to 12,800, expandable to 51,200. Autofocus is fast and responsive – and now has eye and face-detection capability. Continuous shooting tops out at a respectable 8 fps and a new electronic stabilization feature keeps your handheld shots nice and steady.

The FUJIFILM X-T200 boasts a new EVF making it the most ideal camera in its class. It offers users fast auto-focus, face detection, and enough power to create stills at 8 FPS. Its 3.5” intuitive touch screen, new Clear Advanced Filter allowing for enhanced “bright mode” performance, and full image resolution image transfer, the X-T200 is the perfect tool for making your vision come alive.

But the biggest difference is the lengths to which Fujifilm has gone to please videographers with this feature-packed new model. The X-T200 can capture 4K footage at 24p and 30p, Full HD and 720p HD at up to 60 fps, as well as Full HD at up to 120p for slow motion. There’s also a new vlogger-appealing 1:1 aspect-ratio option, plus a built-in gyro sensor and Digital Gimbal Function to help keep your video smooth and on the level. On top of that, you can now shoot in an HDR recording mode, edit video in camera and share your clips instantly via WiFi.

While beefing up the X-T200 in all the right spots, Fujifilm also somehow managed to shave 80g off its body, not only keeping light and maneuverable, but ultimately delivering a nimble, well-rounded contender that’s destined to punch way above its weight class.
