Canon has announced two new full-frame EF Cinema Zoom lenses, the CN-E 20-50mm T2.4 L/FP wide-angle zoom and the CN-E 45-135mm T2.4 L/FP telephoto zoom lens.

Canon says that both of these large-aperture lenses “feature high-level optical design and performance, while maintain the style and ease of use” of their EF Cinema lenses, also adding that with their introduction, “Canon now offers zoom lenses that cover the same range as its six existing prime (single focal length) lenses”.

Both lenses are designed for full-frame cameras and maintain a constant T2.4 aperture across their entire zoom ranges helping to reduce the need for more intricate lighting setups.

The lenses also feature a large-aperture aspherical lens and an anomalous dispersion glass lens that helps to reduce the potential for colour smudging and chromatic aberrations.

According to Canon, the lenses “produce superb colour rendition and detail, with sharp images from the center to the outer edges” and are rated for 8K HDR capture, and the 11-blade aperture helps to create “soft, beautiful light rays and stunning depth-of-field falloff”, with the internal focusing system delivering “minimized focus breathing and excellent parfocal performance.”

Finally, both lenses share the same design offering a consistent front diameter, gear positions and gear rotation angles and are available in EF mount or PL mount versions.
