Tamron has just launched the 28-300mm f/4-7.1 Di III VC VXD, a compact, lightweight 10.7x zoom that lets you go from wide-angle to long telephoto in an instant. It’s an incredibly versatile lens designed for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras – and for shooters who need a convenient all-in-one zoom to capture every aspect of their surroundings whether far or near.

The Tamron f/4-7.1 Di III VC VXD zoom is surprisingly compact and lightweight.

Tamron is known as an innovative pioneer in the realm of all-in-one zooms, including the 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD and 28-75mm f/2.8 G2 lenses released in recent years.

The latest entry into this market stands out not only for the impressive breadth of its considerable zoom range but also for its compact (126mm) and lightweight (610g) proportions. This is a design and engineering feat unto itself, giving photographers generous latitude in a wide range of shooting scenarios, from portraits to landscapes.

Comprising 20 elements in 13 groups, the lens’s optical design and construction are also optimized to produce class-leading resolution and image quality while limiting chromatic aberration and other unwanted effects. Tamron’s proprietary Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2 (BBAR-G2) coating offers additional protection against the prospect of ghosting and flare, allowing for the capture of clear images even when shooting in tricky backlit conditions.

The 28-300mm f/4-7.1 VC uses a Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive (VXD) linear motor focus mechanism to deliver the fastest and most accurate AF in Tamron’s arsenal. It also features the company’s exclusive Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism to ensure steady handheld shooting at its extensive telephoto range or under low-light conditions – you can even enjoy the freedom of shooting at the full 300mm telephoto end without the need for a tripod.
