Hasselblad has just released the XCD 20-35mm f/3.2-4.5 E, its first ultra-wide-angle zoom lens and the first lens in the company’s new XCD E series. The E stands for Exclusive, designating its unparalleled optical performance and promising to deliver a level of medium-format excellence we’ve come to expect from Hasselblad.

Hasselblad’s first ultra-wide-angle zoom lens is also the first in its XCD E series.

Joining an existing lineup of ultra-wide lenses – including the XCD 28mm P f/4.0 and the XCD 25mm f/2.5 V – the new XCD 20-35mm f/3.2-4.5 E is clearly the company’s widest for the X System of mirrorless medium-format cameras. And it aims to match the level of image quality as these prime lenses, no small feat for a zoom.

Comprising 16 elements in 12 groups – including three aspherical elements and four extra-low dispersion elements – the lens is designed to meet the high-resolution demands of a 100MP sensor, effectively suppressing aberrations and delivering high-quality images at all focal lengths with edge-to-edge clarity and natural-looking colours.
