Some great new Sigma lenses to tell you about today: the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG II Art and the Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary. Each adds something unique and original to the company’s growing lineup of large-aperture primes. Let’s take a closer look.

Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG II Art
This is what Sigma calls “the Type II successor” to the 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art released in 2021. Significantly lighter and more compact than the original, it also boasts seriously superior optical performance, delivering consistent sharpness across the frame, at both the centre and the periphery, even at the maximum aperture.
Another key feature is its floating focus system, which retains that superior level of image quality even at close shooting distances, allowing for improved close-up performance over that of its predecessor.
That floating focus system is also a boon to anyone shooting video, effectively suppressing focus breathing as well.
The lens also features a new Advanced Amorphous Coating (AAC) to minimize flare and ghosting, along with an optical formula designed to correct axial chromatic aberration and keep unwanted purple and green fringing at bay.

- L-mount, Sony E-mount

- 15 elements in 12 groups (2 SLD, 4 aspherical elements)
- 11 rounded diaphragm blades
- f/16 minimum aperture

Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary
Unlike the full-frame 35mm f/1.4 Art lens above, this one is designed specifically for APS-C format sensors on Canon, Fujifilm and Sony mirrorless cameras. And as the latest addition to Sigma’s Contemporary lineup, it’s intended to provide an affordable option for casual everyday shooters
Similarly, it features an ultra-compact design and an enhanced optical formula. Along with its bright maximum aperture, it also boasts an ultra-wide focal length and a minimum focus distance of just 17.7cm that are perfect for close-up shooting.
Several additional features combine to make this lens an excellent choice for shooting outdoors, even in harsh environmental conditions, including its dust- and splash-resistant structure with sealing around the mount joint and other parts, plus a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front lens element.
The Sony E-mount and Fujifilm X-mount versions are equipped with an aperture ring, while the Canon RF-mount model comes with a control ring.
Features
- Canon RF Mount, Fujifilm X Mount, Sony E-mount
- APS-C (DC) format
- 13 elements in 11 groups (1 FLD, 3 SLD, 3 aspherical elements)
