Blackmagic Design Announces DaVinci Resolve 18

Blackmagic Design has announced DaVinci Resolve 18, a revolutionary update featuring cloud-based workflows and launching a whole new way for professionals to collaborate remotely. This is a true game changer. Thanks to DaVinci Resolve 18, editors, colourists, VFX artists and audio engineers can now work together seamlessly on the same project at the same time anywhere in the world. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest highlights.

Simplified proxy workflow
The new Blackmagic Proxy generator automatically creates proxies linked to camera originals to enable a faster, more streamlined editing workflow. Now you can easily switch between camera original footage and proxies in just one click – DaVinci Resolve 18 instantly locates and links them to the camera originals in the media pool.

Shared project libraries
If you’re working on a secure private network, you can get immediate updates of any editorial and colour changes while collaborating on a remotely hosted project library – and make creative decisions in an instant in response to the latest round of revisions.

Intelligent media management
No more need to manually relink or search for assets when working remotely: intelligent media location management lets you quickly link media to your specific file paths.

Remote monitoring streaming
With super-low latency and vivid 12-bit image quality, you’ll be able to live stream your DaVinci Resolve Studio viewer to display on a remote computer monitor and get immediate feedback on changes – this will come in very handy for various remote-editing and colour-grading tasks.

New BMD storage solutions
The launch of BMD’s DaVinci Resolve 18 is also accompanied by a slate of compatible new high-capacity, high-performance storage solutions built for professional use, including the Blackmagic Design Cloud Pod, Blackmagic Design Cloud Store Mini 8TB, Blackmagic Design Cloud Store 20TB (also available in 80TB), plus the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Shuttle HD desktop recorder and Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Extreme 4K HDR recorder/broadcast deck.

These are just a few of the fresh advantages the new DaVinci Resolve 18 has to offer. This comprehensive update also includes new Resolve FX AI tools powered by the DaVinci Neural Engine, along with valuable time-saving tools for editors, Fairlight legacy fixed-bus-to-FlexBus conversion, GPU accelerated paint in Fusion and more.

The DaVinci Resolve 18 public beta is currently available for download from the Blackmagic Design website. And anyone who currently has v.17 can update to v.18 for free.
