The Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD standard zoom lens is now available for Nikon Z and Canon RF mount APSC-format mirrorless cameras.
Engineered to deliver outstanding image quality while maintaining a fast constant maximum aperture throughout its zoom range – with built-in Vibration Compensation, to boot – this is an excellent choice for daily use in a wide range of photo and video applications.

This follows the successful launch of the Sony E mount version in 2021 and the Fujifilm X mount in 2022. Like its predecessors, these new models remain notably lightweight and compact.
The 17-70mm focal length translates into a 25.5-105mm full-frame equivalent for the Nikon Z mount version; 27.2-112mm for the Canon RF mount one.
The angle of view is 80°37′-23°17′ for Nikon APS-C mirrorless format; 77°0′- 21°52′ for Canon APS-C mirrorless format.
At 121.3mm and 540g, the Z mount lens is slightly bigger than the RF mount, at 117.3mm and 530g.
The barrel of the Canon RF lens also sports an AF/MF switch and VC On/Off switch, absent on the Z mount.
Beyond these minor divergences, the feature set and level of performance are otherwise largely the same for both lenses.

The built-in Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism offers stability when shooting stills and video, with suppressed focus breathing for the latter. As expected, the high-performance AF remains reliably fast and quiet.
The barrel’s moisture-resistant construction and the front lens element’s fluorine coating offer peace of mind when shooting in challenging outdoor environments.
For those Canon and Nikon shooters who’ve been eager for this lens to arrive, rest assured: it was worth the wait, and you can take this with you just about anywhere.
