The latest firmware update for the Sony ZV-E1 enables 4K 120p video recording, an ability that was previously available on some of Sony’s higher end cameras such as the Alpha 1 and a7S III, as well as the FX6, FX3, and FX30 Cinema Line cameras.

When the ZV-E1 was originally introduced, it already included some pretty impressive video performance, including the ability to record high-quality 4K video at 10-bit 4:2:2 with full pixel readout, without pixel binning, and with minimized rolling shutter.

Along with faster high-speed frame rates, the upgrade also adds support for Full HD 240p recording to its S&Q (slow-motion/quick-motion) recording mode.

In order to download the free ZV-E1 firmware upgrade via the Creators’ Cloud website, users have to sign into their Creators’ Cloud account, access the Upgrade page, input their ZV-E1 model serial number, and download a free license.

Once downloaded, the firmware installation can be performed using an SD card or via USB connected to a computer.
