Sony has announced firmware updates for their FX3 (FW ver.3.00) and FX30 (FW ver. 2.00) cinema cameras that adds several new features including 4K DCI recording and in-camera anamorphic de-squeeze.
With these updates, support for 4K DCI recording as well as 24p recording has been added to both cameras.
It also adds anamorphic de-squeeze options, which will allow users to view de-squeezed images in-camera rather than having to use an external monitor to do so.
Note: There is one caveat with this, the de-squeeze options on both cameras are limited to 1.33x and 2x ratios, and they can only be activated when shooting in Log.
The updates also add support for the Sony Creator’s app which has replaced the Imaging Edge Mobile app for transferring images from the camera to a smart device, remote shooting and various other functions.
Other additions include the addition of a function that allows the Slow & quick and Movie modes to be switched with a custom key, support for the Long Name File Format and improved operational stability for both cameras.
