Firmware Update

DJI Action 2 firmware update: improved horizon levelling and more!

The latest firmware update (ver. 01.02.10.10) for the DJI Action 2 brings a slew of improvements including a new stabilization mode, a new lower power mode for timelapse shooting and support for the DJI Mic Remote Control.

New HorizonBalancing Mode

With Front Touchscreen Module

With this update, DJI has added a fourth stabilization mode called HorizonBalancing which, when active, keeps footage steady up to 4K 60fps without any reduction in Field of View (FOV) up to a maximum roll axis (tilt) of 45 degrees.

The other three original stabilization modes include:

  • Steady mode: supports up to 4K 60fps video shooting. This is the default mode which DJI says will be suitable for most situations.
  • RockSteady mode: supports up to 4K 120fps but requires additional computing power to generate stable video with a wider FOV.
  • HorizonSteady mode: supports up to 2.7K 60fps and is capable of keeping the horizon level through a full 360 degrees of rotation but reduces the FOV while doing so.

New Timelapse Low Power Mode

When active, this new mode conserves power buy turning the the screen off after the first 10 seconds of recording.

DJI Mic

While the screen is off, the status indicator will be a solid blue colour to remind you that it’s still recording and touching the screen will reactivate the display.

New DJI Mic Remote Control

Support for the wireless DJI Mic has also been added, making it possible to start/stop recording by pressing the linking button when the DJI Mic receiver is connected to the Action 2 with a front touchscreen module or power module attached.

How to get the update

The latest firmware can be downloaded for free via the DJI Mimo app (available in both the iOS app store and Android Google Play store).
