The Rode Wireless Pro is packed full of powerful features

The new Rode Wireless Pro is a universally compatible (cameras, phones, computers, etc.) wireless microphone that is packed with a host of professional features designed to satisfy content creators and filmmakers of any level.

Being called “the most powerful wireless mic ever” by Rode, the Wireless Pro is the latest in their series of wireless mics that includes the popular, Wireless ME and Wireless GO II models.

Utilizing Series IV 2.4 GHz digital transmission with 128-bit encryption, Rode says the Wireless Pro will capture crystal-clear, stable audio at distances of up to 260 meters (850 feet), line of sight with “near” zero latency.

The 32-bit float on-board recording capability allows for the recovery of clipped or quiet audio files and the 32GB of internal memory can store over 40 hours of audio.

It also includes a Timecode feature for easier sync in post-production and GainAssist technology, which automatically controls audio level using “intelligent algorithms” to ensure that output is both smooth and balanced while at the same time reducing the risk of clipping.

There is also a safety channel that, when recording into a camera, outputs a second channel of audio 10dB lower than the primary channel in case the signal is too hot and clips the camera input.

The top of the transmitter unit features a dedicated button for triggering recording, a locking 3.5mm lavalier connector as well as a built-in microphone which allows it to capture audio without the need for a separate lavalier mic.

Transmitter and Receiver Units

On the receiver there is a TRRS supported 3.5mm output that can be used for audio monitoring, but also functions as an audio input for headsets or other “narrator” microphones.

The receiver also features a small LCD display that shows information about audio levels, connectivity and recording status as well as providing the ability to navigate through the Wireless Pro’s various settings.

Configuring the Wireless Pro can be done on the receiver unit, or via the Rode Central app downloaded on to a smartphone or computer.

The app allows users to configure all of the Wireless PRO’s settings as well as access on-board recordings (desktop only), pair and unpair the transmitters and receiver and update firmware.

In terms of battery life, the Wireless Pro should last up to 7 hours on a single charge with a 2.5 hour recharging time via the charging case.

Finally the Wireless Pro comes as a complete accessory kit that includes a pair of lavalier microphones, a rugged USB-C charging case, furry windshields (for the transmitter’s built-in mic), magnetic mounting clips and all of the necessary cables.
