RODE 5th Gen NT1 Studio Condenser Microphone with 32-bit float

Rode has announced the 5th generation of the NT1 Studio Condenser Microphone, that Rode says “fuses the classic sound of the iconic RODE NT1 with new, cutting-edge technology” including 32-bit floating point recording.

Like the 4th generation model, the new version boasts a one-inch large-diaphragm condenser microphone that utilizes the HF6 capsule to deliver “sparkling top end, with detailed midrange and rich bass”

It has a tight cardioid polar pattern with smooth frequency response and high sensitivity offering incredible versatility for recording everything from vocals to acoustic/electric guitar as well as percussion instruments, piano, and more.

Thanks to its enhanced circuitry the 5th gen NT1 delivers an astonishingly low 4dBA of self-noise, which Rode says makes it the world’s quietest studio condenser microphone.

It also boasts Dual Connect output, offering both XLR and USB connectivity allowing users to connect to an audio interface, mixer, console or other audio equipment via traditional XLR or directly to a computer via USB for plug-and-play recording.

The 5th Gen NT1 is also the “world’s first” microphone to feature a 32-bit floating digital output, offering virtually unclippable, ultra-high resolution of up to 192 kHz analog to digital conversion.

It also includes Rode’s ultra-low-noise, high-gain Revolution Preamp and onboard digital signal processor (DSP) with advanced APHEX audio processing with a compressor, noise gate, a two-step high pass filter, and their Aural Exciter and Big Bottom Effects.

There are also two different processing modes available when connected via the RØDE Central and RØDE Connect apps.

The VoxLab editor offers simple controls for Depth, Sparkle and Punch, and a more advanced editor offers more precise, granular control over every parameter for fine-tuned processing.

Finally, up to eight NT1 5th Generation microphones can be connect to a single computer for multitrack recording, including Windows operating systems via Rode’s custom ASIO driver.
