DJI Mic 2 adds 32-bit float internal recording & more

The DJI Mic 2 offers several improvements and additions over the original DJI Mic, including 32-bit float internal recording in the transmitters, a scrolling adjustment dial on the receiver and Bluetooth connectivity with devices such as action cameras and smartphones.

Featuring the same rectangular shaped design as the original version, the DJI Mic 2 boasts a few changes that make the device more user-friendly one of which being that the power-on LED has been moved to the side to help prevent it from appearing in shots.

Another cosmetic change is that the transmitters now come in two colours, Shadow Black and Pearl White, allowing users to choose the option that best suits their style.

The DJI Mic 2 comes loaded with a plethora of features designed to ensure a high-quality audio experience including:

  • 32-bit Float Internal Recording: The DJI Mic 2 is equipped with 8GB of internal storage per transmitter, which can store up to 14 hours of uncompressed 48kHz 24-bit audio recording. The device also supports 32-bit float internal recording, providing a high dynamic range and adapting to complex sound environments.
  • Intelligent Noise-Canceling Technology: This feature effectively reduces environmental noise, ensuring clear vocals even in bustling environments.
  • Safety Track: The DJI Mic 2 includes a Safety Track feature that records a second track at -6dB alongside the primary audio track. This serves as a safety net against unexpected audio level spikes.
  • OLED Touchscreen: The receiver unit features a 1.1-inch OLED touchscreen, paired with a dial that provides quick access to critical information and allows for easy adjustments to volume, gain, brightness, and more.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity: The DJI Mic 2 can be connected to various devices via Bluetooth.

The Mic 2’s omnidirectional audio recording capabilities have been specifically optimized for vocals and work in tandem with its intelligent noise-canceling features to effectively reduce environmental noises.

For windy or fast-moving scenarios the included windscreen can be added to further enhance audio quality to reduce wind noise even further.

It also boasts an operating range of up to 250 meters or 820 feet line of sight, and each transmitter and receiver has a 6-hour operating time, which can be extended to 18 hours with the included charging case.

DJI designed the Mic 2 to be versatile and compatible by providing the ability to connect to various recording devices through USB-C, Lightning Adapters, and 3.5mm TRS analog output.

As mentioned above, it also supports direct Bluetooth connection, allowing the transmitter to connect directly to Osmo Pocket 3, Osmo Action 4, or smartphones without the need for a receiver.

Finally, thanks to its robust features, high-quality audio recording capabilities, and improved design, the DJI Mic 2 is very a compelling choice for both professionals and amateurs alike.
