This streamlined all-in-one package consists of two microphone/transmitters, one receiver and charging case, along with essential accessories.
You automatically power the receiver to standby by opening the case, then power the receiver and microphones simply by removing them from the case.
You can then connect wirelessly to the Multi Interface Shoe on a compatible Sony camera to record up to four channels of pro-grade digital audio in-camera at up to 96 kHz/24-bit or 48 kHz/32-bit float.
In addition to recording high-quality audio directly to a compatible Sony camera up to 500m away, you can do so as well to other nearby devices via USB-C.
For stress-relieving backup, you also get onboard recording directly to the mic’s built-in storage and simultaneous WAV file recording in-camera on compatible models.

To record up to four tracks simultaneously, you can purchase additional transmitters separately. The ECM-W5 receiver can also be purchased on its own.
Both the mic and the receiver sport a 3.5mm microphone input terminal that’s compatible with lavalier microphones such as the ECM-L1, also sold separately.
When used in standalone situations, the microphone and receiver each provide up to seven hours of continuous use on a single charge. Using the microphone via the charging case gives you a total of up to 11 hours – the receiver battery doesn’t drain when it’s mounted on the camera.
