DJI has just released the Mic Mini 2S compact wireless microphone system, a next-gen follow-up to the recently launched Mini 2 that adds internal recording capabilities, support for up to four transmitters and more.
The S stands for storage, indicating the biggest difference between the two and a major selling point. With 14.5GB capacity and operating in 24-bit or 32-bit float formats, onboard recording serves as a convenient safety net, clearly absent on the Mic Mini 2.
The 24-bit audio version offloads more quickly, but the heftier 32-bit float variation captures more expansive dynamic range, eliminating the need for manual gain adjustments while recording and making it easier to recover clipped audio in post-production if required.
Combined with quad-channel audio support, this new mic system rises to next-level performance and places it well beyond the limited scope of the original model.
Designed for larger group interviews, panel discussions and multi-person live streams, the 2S receiver links up to four separate audio sources simultaneously.
As with its predecessor, the Mini 2S offers three tonal presets – regular, rich and bright – that you can adjust using the DJI Mimo app.
And you can set automatic gain adjustment in one of two modes, anti-pop to deal with sudden spikes in volume and loudness equalization to handle shifts in vocal levels.

Yes, the DJI Mic Mini 2S and the Mic Mini 2 look almost identical at first glance in terms of size and weight, but they do have some minor physical differences.
The Mini 2S features a raised logo, versus the Mic Mini 2’s recessed one. The transmitter’s power button is highlighted in orange on the Mini 2S, and the receiver has four indicator lights instead of two.
That’s not just some cosmetic design consideration, of course. Each of these four indicator lights corresponds to one connected transmitter, allowing you to check individual status at a glance.
And that’s not all. The 2S also features a vibration motor for haptic status feedback. Another nice touch.
The Mic Mini 2S is sold as a kit with a transmitter and receiver, with two transmitters, one receiver and charging case, or with one transmitter, one mobile receiver and charging case.
The transmitter and charging case can each be purchased separately, as can the multicoloured magnetic front-cover set and the Time Series magnetic front-cover set.
