Profoto has announced three new extra-large softbox options – the 5′ Octa, plus the rectangular 4×6′ and 1×6′ – aiming to set a new benchmark for large-scale light shaping.
Available in white or silver interiors, these new softboxes are purpose-built to meet the exacting demands of commercial, cinema and rental applications and designed to deliver coverage existing sizes can’t achieve.
“The new large-size Profoto softboxes set a new standard for easy-to-use soft light on professional sets,” says Profoto product manager Göran Maren. “They combine a rugged heavy-duty design with quick, intuitive setup and fold-down, enabling a faster, more efficient workflow.”
To ensure reliable performance when working with powerful flashes and high-output LED lights, these softboxes are made of durable heat-resistant materials and fitted with integrated reinforced speedrings as well as attachment rings to provide for the additional support of safety wires.

Thanks to the integrated speedring, the Profoto Softbox 5′ Octa sets up in seconds. You can use it to create a stunning soft light, with its circle-like shape generating natural catchlights in a subject’s eyes. The octagonal outline produces equally soft or hard edges on all sides, making it the perfect light-shaping tool for fashion, beauty, portraits and interviews.

This standard rectangle is one of Profoto’s most popular softbox shapes. Built for larger setups, the 4×6′ provides adjustable softness and light intensity through its removable and interchangeable diffuser. It also features a recessed front to evenly distribute natural-looking light and is compatible with the full range of Profoto 100mm flashes and LED lights, thanks to its heat-resistant design.

This model’s unique shape produces soft light with long shadow edges on the long side and harder light with short shadow edges on the short side. Ideal for edge or rim lighting, it enhances the curves and profiles of objects while effectively separating the subject from the background.
