Nikon has just launched the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II, a second-generation version of its most popular pro-level fast telephoto zoom.

This lens has a well-established reputation for capturing everything from portraits and weddings to fast-action sports, along with its exceptional low-light performance and beautiful bokeh.
Designed for professionals in pursuit of perfection, this premium-grade lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras is faster and more precise than its predecessor – approximately 3.5 times faster autofocusing, to be precise, along with AF tracking while zooming that’s roughly 40% better.
It’s also 26% lighter and 12mm shorter.
This is due partly to the newly revised optical formula, which not only reduces the number of lens elements but also imparts the highest level of rendering performance.
The lens also features an internal zoom design, which keeps it exceptionally balanced and makes it ideal for both handheld shooting and in use with a gimbal. This mechanism also contributes to its superior dust and drip resistance.

For smoother shooting, you’ve also got a control-ring clicking switch at your fingertips, letting you enable or disable the tactile click for control ring operation.
In another welcome precedent, this is the first NIKKOR lens to support the use of Arca-Swiss tripod heads, making for smoother tripod mounting and dismounting. For added versatility, the removable tripod collar ring makes it easy to switch between portrait and landscape orientation.
