Canon has unveiled two ultra‑wide lenses: the RF 7–14mm f/2.8–3.5L Fisheye STM and the RF 14mm f/1.4L VCM, designed to push the boundaries of creative imaging while offering photographers, videographers, and hybrid creators exciting new ways to capture immersive, dramatic perspectives.

Canon’s RF 7–14mm f/2.8–3.5L Fisheye STM is the world’s first fisheye zoom lens offering a 190° field of view, delivering both circular and diagonal fisheye imagery depending on focal length.

Canon Ultra-Wide RF 7-14mm LensAt 7mm, users can achieve a full circular 190° fisheye effect, while at the opposite end at 14mm, the lens produces a 180° diagonal fisheye image.

The RF 7–14mm is not only wider, faster, and lighter, than the previous EF 8–15mm f/4L Fisheye USM, but also offers vastly improved low‑light performance thanks to its brighter aperture range and enhanced optical design.

In terms of construction, the lens features five UD elements, two replica aspherical elements, and Air Sphere Coating (ASC) which is used to suppress ghosting, flare, and chromatic aberrations.

The lens also features a leadscrew‑type STM autofocus system which helps to minimize focus breathing, especially necessary when shooting video.

For virtual‑reality workflows, the RF 7–14mm supports 2D 180° VR conversion through Canon’s EOS VR Utility, allowing for immersive content creation when paired with a compatible EOS R‑series camera such as the R5C, R5 Mark II, and R6 Mark II.

Along with the fisheye zoom, Canon has also introduced the RF 14mm f/1.4L VCM, their widest and brightest non‑fisheye ultra‑wide prime lens to date.

RF14mm Ultra-Wide LensFeaturing a fast f/1.4 aperture, this lens is perfect for astrophotography, architectural imaging, and low‑light video production.

With its relatively compact size and light-weight (approximately 578 grams), the lens perfectly balances portability and professional‑grade optical performance.

Best of all, thanks to its expansive ultra-wide 14mm field of view paired with the bright f/1.4 aperture, photographers are able to not only capture sweeping night skies, but also vast interiors and dramatic landscapes with exceptional clarity.
