DJI’s Neo 2 next-gen drone boasts a slate of significant upgrades, making it easier to control and a no-brainer for entry-level novices looking to get their aerial imagery off the ground.
When it was first launched last year, the original Neo was billed as DJI’s lightest and most compact aerial drone, weighing just 135g. This new model relinquishes that title but still weighs in at a modest 151g despite its heftier feature set.

At well below the 250g benchmark, the DJI Neo 2 remains off the regulatory radar in most countries, including Canada, and it’s the most compact drone in DJI’s lineup to feature omnidirectional obstacle sensing.
This system combines omni-way monocular vision with forward-view LiDAR and down-view infrared sensing, using forward-facing sensors to detect obstacles up to 15m away while flying at speeds up to 8 m/s. The rear, side, up and down sensors provide similar detection performance at speeds up to 3 m/s.
Additional upgrades include dual-axis mechanical stabilization — a significant boost above the original single-axis gimbal — allowing for visibly smoother image capture when navigating complex environments.
And this now includes 4K video at 60 fps, plus 4K 100 fps slow-motion recording and 2.7K vertical video optimized for posting social media content.

With a 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor, high-performance image processor and an f/2.2 maximum aperture, the Neo 2 delivers dependably clear low-noise footage. And a larger 1,606 mAh battery now extends flight times to 19 minutes.
Taking flight couldn’t be easier. To launch the DJI Neo 2, just point it at yourself and then press the takeoff button. It’ll launch directly from the palm of your hand. With a new Return-to-Palm feature, the drone will precisely locate your hand, returning safely and landing without a hitch.
Thanks to gesture control, you can adjust Neo 2’s direction and proximity effortlessly using one or both of your hands. As if by magic, just point your palm toward the drone to guide it up, down or side to side. You can also use both palms to exert more precise control over the drone’s proximity.
The Neo 2 now supports voice control as well, so you can issue verbal commands through your smartphone – it’s designed to capture audio with intelligently reduced noise, including automatically filtering out the sound of the propellers. How smart is that?
In addition to the Fly More Combo, the Neo 2 is also available in a fully accessorized Motion Fly More Combo kit, including goggles.
