The camera’s top plate features the Frame Advance Lever adding a touch of nostalgia to the shooting experience, as users need to wind the lever after taking each image as they would with an analog film camera.
On the back, a vertical sub-menu displays the active Film Simulation, mimicking the film window found on traditional cameras reinforcing the vintage feel while providing quick access to digital features.
The X Half also includes an optical viewfinder, complementing its 3:4 format rear LCD.
The camera’s user-friendly interface makes it perfect for passing around among friends and family, allowing everyone to contribute to preserving shared moments.
This ease of use democratizes photography, making it accessible to all skill levels.
Sharing options are abundant with the X Half. It can connect directly to select instax™ printers, enabling instant physical prints.
For digital sharing, the dedicated X Half app streamlines the process of distributing images and videos across various platforms.
Modes
Capturing JPEGs images (no RAW), the X half offers two unique shooting modes, Film Camera mode and 2-in-1 mode. It can also capture Full HD 24p video.
Film Camera mode adds a unique twist to digital photography, allowing users to choose a Film Simulation and set a “roll” of 36, 54, or 72 shots.
When shooting in this mode, users are prevented from being able to review their images until the selected number of shots in the “roll” is complete, encouraging photographers to stay present and focus on capturing moments rather than reviewing them.
The X Half’s innovative 2-in-1 mode however, is what really sets it apart from other digital cameras by allowing users to combine two visuals (two still images, two videos, or a combination of both) into a single file, truly opening up new creative possibilities.
The process is pretty straightforward, capture the first visual, pull the Frame Advance Lever, capture the second, and the camera automatically combines them into one shareable file.
This feature will be particularly valuable for content creators, bloggers, and social media enthusiasts as it enables the creation of unique, eye-catching content that will stand out in an ever more crowded digital landscape.
