Nikon has just announced the release of firmware version 2.0 for the Zf full-frame (FX-format) mirrorless camera.

Announced in 2023, the retro-styled 25MP Zf is one of Nikon’s most popular full-frame mirrorless Z-mount models. This is the first major firmware update for the Zf since its launch.

Considered the next step in the camera’s ongoing evolution, this update adds new functions inherited from the pro-level Nikon Z9 flagship camera as well as Nikon’s latest full-frame mirrorless model, the Z6III.

Among other things, this firmware update adds support for Nikon Imaging Cloud, allowing for automatic firmware updates and the transfer of images to third-party cloud-storage services.

In addition, the Zf now incorporates a dedicated birds subject-detection option, providing more powerful detection and tracking performance to enhance your bird photography. A high-res zoom function has also been added.

For those who like to shoot with manual-focus lenses, including the vintage-glass variety, firmware version 2.0 offers expanded functions for greater usability, including the ability to quickly exit the magnified display simply by half-pressing the shutter-release button and even record the aperture values used when shooting.

This is all part of Nikon’s commitment to meet users’ needs continuously through timely firmware updates that expand the functionality of its cameras.
