    Canon Announces 3 New RF Lenses and 1 RF-S Dual Lens

    New Canon RF Lenses

    Canon has announced a host of new RF Lenses including the RF24mm f/1.4, RF50mm f/1.4, RF70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z and finally the RF-S 7.8mm f/4 STM DUAL aimed at VR content creators.

    The RF24mm f/1.4 L VCM is a new addition to Canon’s expanding Hybrid lens series, that are targeted towards a wide range of still-image and video shooters, by offering a combination of wide-angle coverage, a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, and excellent optical design.

    Canon RF 24mm f/1.4L LensCanon says that when paired with a full frame camera, “this lens will produce a wide-angle look which has for decades been used to add drama to photos and videos, and has always been a very popular for establishing shots.”

    • 24mm L-Series hybrid lens featuring an iris ring for manual iris control.
    • A Nano USM is used for floating focus and a Voice Coil Motor (VCM) for rear focus – great for video.
    • Durable, weather-resistant construction for use in harsh environments helps ensure reliability and dependability.
    • Minimal focus breathing – within 2.5% of the entire range in the lens. Further electronic breathing correction brings it to within 1.0% of the entire range.
    • Air Sphere Coating (ASC), and Fluorine Coating helps to significantly reduce lens ghosting and flare.
    • 2 UD elements to minimize chromatic aberration, and 1 aspheric lens for incredible quality from edge-to-edge.
    • 15 Elements in 11 groups and an 11-blade aperture.
    • 9.4” (0.24m) Minimum Focus Distance with 0.17x maximum magnification.
    • User-programmable lens function button.

    The RF50mm f/1.4 L VCM is another new addition to Canon’s expanding Hybrid lens series, targeted towards a wide range of still-image and video shooters, offering a combination of wide-angle coverage, a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, and excellent image quality.

    • 50mm L-Series hybrid lens featuring an iris ring for manual iris control.
    • A Nano USM is used for floating focus and a Voice Coil Motor (VCM) for rear focus, great for video.
    • Durable, weather-resistant construction for use in harsh environments helps ensure reliability and dependability.
    • Minimal focus breathing
    • Air Sphere Coating (ASC) helps to significantly reduce lens ghosting and flare.
    • 1 UD element to minimize chromatic aberration, and 2 aspheric lenses for incredible quality from edge-to-edge.
    • 14 Elements in 11 groups and an 11-blade aperture.
    • 15.7” (0.4m) Minimum Focus Distance with 0.15x maximum magnification.
    • User-programmable lens function button.
    • Accepts 67mm front screw on filters.

    Canon’s Hybrid RF Zoom lens series also has a new addition, the RF70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z featuring  internal zooming and focusing and more!

    The lens also supports the use of Canon’s RF 1.4x Extender and 2x Extender throughout the 70-200 zoom range making it an incredibly versatile telephoto zoom solution for many different applications.

    • Internal zooming and internal focus f/2.8 L-Series hybrid telephoto zoom lens featuring an iris ring for manual iris control.

    • 2 Super UD elements to minimize chromatic aberration, and 3 aspheric lens for incredible quality from edge-to-edge.
    • 18 Elements in 15 groups and an 11-blade circular aperture.
    • Compatible with Extenders RF 1.4X and RF 2.0X.
    • 26.8” (0.68m) Minimum Focus Distance with 0.3x maximum magnification.
    • Two user-programmable lens function buttons.

    Canon RF-S 7.8mm f4 STM DUAL LensThe Canon RF-S 7.8mm f/4 STM DUAL lens allows content creators to create CAMERA-CAPTURED content including 3D experiences with a level of 3D immersion not possible with traditional flat 2-dimensional content.

    • Tell your story with 3D depth, capture life’s adventures, daily explorations and exciting portraits using this new stereoscopic lens.
    • Create high-quality 3D photos and videos, and relive those memories in Spatial, 3D 180° and 3D Theater formats in your compatible headset, such as Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3.
    • Compatible with the EOS R7 camera – this new lens is an excellent entry point for creators looking to enter into the Canon EOS VR System. The autofocus mechanism focuses the left and right lens simultaneously by use of a fast and quiet gear-type STM motor that works like any other RF lens.
    • 60º field of view to render realistic imagery similar to human vision. Uses the same on-sensor layout as the RF-S 3.9mm f/3.5 DUAL FISHEYE lens.
    • “Straight-path optical system with 2 UD elements for high-quality 3D images and a compact 3D lens design”.
    • The autofocus mechanism focuses the left and right lens simultaneously by use of a fast and quiet gear type STM motor that works like many other RF lenses.
    • Minimum focusing distance of 5.9” (0.15m). and a maximum magnification of 0.07x allows for close shooting of intricate 3D subjects.
