The new Profoto D30 packs some punch

The new Profoto D30 combines the efficiency of a compact, lightweight design with excellent flash consistency to create a reliable option for a wide range of photographic applications – from product and fashion photography to portraiture, whether you’re shooting in studio or on location.

Easily adjust settings using the onboard display or the Profoto Air 1 and Air 2 remotes.

With suitably sufficient 500 Ws output, this AC-powered self-contained strobe flash head is quick and easy to set up, and thanks to its intuitive interface, you can start shooting with it straight out of the box, right away.

The added bonus of AirX connectivity gives you full control directly from the remote on the camera or from the Profoto apps.

It’s also highly adaptable, with a flash range of 11 f-stops that’s adjustable in 0.1 increments for optimum control and lending itself to a broad variety of situations: you can use it as a main light or just to illuminate a small sliver of your subject.

Plus, like the Profoto Pro-D3 announced earlier this year, this model gives you three flash modes to choose from: ECO for colour consistency (and increased equipment lifetime); Boost for extra power when needed; and Freeze for the shortest flash duration and when you need to eliminate motion blur.

Another nice touch: the D30 also comes equipped with a convenient built-in bi-colour LED modelling light. It’s bright and energy-efficient with an adjustable colour temperature for video-quality colour rendering. Use it as a continuous light when you only need an extra bit of light and adapt it to the surrounding light via the adjustable colour temperature range.

For an extra measure of control, the D30 is fully compatible with the many available Profoto 100mm light modifiers (120 and counting), including the largest of the lot, thanks to its sturdy build and construction.
