With a bright maximum aperture and a 13-blade rounded diaphragm, the spectacular new Sigma 50mm f/1.2 DG DN Art lens is designed to deliver superior resolving power throughout the focus range and stunningly natural-looking bokeh – perfect for portraits and just in time for wedding season.

As the name suggests, Sigma’s Art lenses are intended for photographers who prize creative expression and built to render the highest levels of artistic quality. The latest addition is no exception, staying true to the legacy of this lineup and taking it to the next level.

    Compact and lightweight
Weighing just 745g – the lightest weight for a lens body in its class – the Sigma 50mm f/1.2 DG DN Art lens comprises 17 elements in 12 groups within its compact 108.8mm length. With portability top of mind, overall lens construction and mechanical design have been optimized to create a uniquely compact and lightweight body that lends itself to a wide range of applications, both indoors and out.

    Breath-taking bokeh
The 13-blade diaphragm – a first for Sigma – combines with the exceptional f/1.2 maximum aperture to give images a melting bokeh effect and a striking three-dimensional pop. Whether you’re shooting portraits or groups of people, you can isolate your subjects with incredible ease and to maximum effect.

And, for enhanced short-range performance, the lens’s floating focus design ensures high-level image quality throughout the entire range – from the 40cm minimum focusing distance all the way to infinity.

    Pro-level features
It’s also equipped with a feature set targeted to professional use, including high-precision autofocus that employs the company’s latest high-response linear actuator (HLA) that effectively reduces volume while maintaining the same amount of thrust. This is what accounts for its high driving accuracy and much-appreciated quietness, a huge advantage when shooting weddings and in similar scenarios where silence is golden.

Additionally, the AFL button can be assigned to selected functions through the menu on certain cameras. The dust- and splash-resistant barrel also boasts an aperture ring and aperture-ring lock switch, as well as a click switch to turn the click on and off. The front lens element features a water- and oil-repellent coating, so you can shoot confidently outdoors without worrying about harsh weather conditions.

For those shooting video, focus breathing and double-line bokeh are well suppressed with this lens, thanks to the optimized focus group arrangement and the lens elements’ aspherical shape.

Currently available in L-mount and Sony E-mount, the highly affordable new Sigma 50mm f/1.2 DG DN Art lens will be welcomed by determined photographers looking to give their images a unique aesthetic edge.
