    FUJIFILM announces X-H2s camera and two new lenses

    FUJIFILM’s just announced X-H2s mirrorless camera offers a versatile combination of photographic and filmmaking features in a body style reminiscent of their larger GFX medium format cameras.

    Fujifilm X-H2S Front No LensAlong with the camera announcement, there are also two new XF lenses, the FUJINON XF150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR and the FUJINON XF18-120mm f/4 LM PZ WR and accessories for the camera.

    The X-H2s features a 26.1-megapixel, back-illuminated X-Trans 5 stacked sensor (the first X-Series camera to do so), powered by the 64-bit X-Processor 5, providing a massive 14-stop dynamic range.

    For video applications, the X-H2S features a host of 6.2K 30P full sensor 3:2 recording options, including internal 10-bit 4:2:2 Apple ProRes, external Apple ProRes RAW and BlackMagic RAW.

    Fujifilm X-H2S Back with open LCD ScreenAnother couple of features of note is the electronic shutter, capable of capturing images at up to 40 frames-per-second, with up to 7-stops of in-body image stabilization, and the advanced AI-powered autofocus system that can track and lock on to even the fastest moving subjects.

    As mentioned above, the X-H2s is the first X Series camera to feature the 26.1-megapixel, X-Trans 5 stacked back-illuminated sensor that places the sensor’s circuitry on a separate layer from the pixels helping to minimize moire and false colours.

    The powerhouse 64-bit X-Processor 5, offers lightning-fast performance and is capable of processing vast amounts of data in both video and stills application.

    FUJIFILM says that the X-H2s’s advanced autofocusing system is 3x faster than the system found on their X-T4 camera, and is capable of working in light levels down to -7EV.

    Unlike previous X-Series cameras which offer Face and Eye Detection AF, the X-H2s’s AF system is the first to feature AI powered Subject Detection Autofocus broadening the range of identifiable subjects.

    This includes the ability to identify and track cars, planes, trains, motorcyclists, birds, horses, dogs, cats and more.

    Fujifilm X-H2S Side ViewsWith the new system, face and eye detection capabilities have also been expanded and are now able to identify and track hairlines, glasses, and face coverings.

    Continuous shooting is possible at up to 15 frames-per-second with the mechanical shutter, and up to 40 frames-per-second when using the electronic shutter.

    To support this, the X-H2s also boasts a high-capacity buffer that supports unlimited continuous recording and writing of JPEG and RAW files to a high speed memory card when using the mechanical shutter.



    The X-H2s also boasts a powerful set of video features making it a one stop shop for dedicated stills and video content creators as well as hybrid creators who work with in both mediums.

    Up to 90 minutes of footage internally can be recorded at a wide range of resolutions and frame rates up to and including 6.2K/30P (in full-sensor 3:2 aspect ratio), 4K/120P, as well as in Full HD/240P.

    Additionally, the ability to record 10-bit 4:2:2 Apple ProRes footage internally to CFexpress Type B memory cards offers even more post production flexibility.

    FUJIFILM X-H2S with VG XH Battery GripIn addition to it’s internal video recording options, X-H2s also features a broad range of external recording options to 3rd party monitor/recorders connected to the camera via it’s Type A HDMI port.

    These options include, F-Log or F-Log2, Apple ProRes RAW (using a Atomos Ninja V+ Monitor) and BlackMagic RAW (using a BMD Video Assist Monitor) in resolutions of up to 6.2K for both Apple ProRes RAW and BlackMagic RAW.

    FUJIFILM also announced a slew of accessories for the camera including, the FT-XH Transmitter battery grip, the VG-XH battery grip (provides an additional shutter button and controls that can be used when shooting in a vertical orientation), the FAN-001 external cooling system (attaches to the back of the camera when the LCD screen is extended), and finally, a cover kit that includes replacement port and side covers in case you break one.

    FUJINON XF150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR Lens

    FUJINON XF150-600mm LensPerfect for wildlife, bird, nature and landscape photography, the XF150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR lens provides an impressive 229-914mm full-frame equivalent focal range that can be extended even further when paired with the FUJINON XF 1.4x TC WR (equivalent range of 320-1280mm) or XF 2.0x TC WR (equivalent range of 475-1824mm) teleconverters.

    It utilizes a linear motor to provide fast, near-silent autofocus and physical focusing controls including AF-ON, AF-L, and a focus range selector that are located close to the mount,

    It also offers five stops of additional Optical Image Stabilization and weather-resistant design in a that weighs 1600g (3.5lbs) and measures less than 315mm (12.5in).

    FUJINON XF18-120mm f/4 LM PZ WR Lens

    FUJINON XF18-120mmThe FUJINON XF18-120mm f/4 LM PZ WR lens offers video-centric features in a compact, weather-resistant lens that is ideal for smaller, independent crews and moviemaking enthusiasts.

    Developed in collaboration with the same people responsible for the design of Fujifilm’s FUJINON Broadcast and Cinema Lenses, the XF18-120mm lens provides a versatile, 35mm equivalent focal range of 27-183mm and 60cm (23.6in) close focusing distance.

    It also boasts automated controls providing precise control over zooming speed and stepless aperture adjustments as well as seamless switching between continuous AF and manual focusing.
