Advanced Image Quality
The Alpha 7 IV features a back-illuminated 33MP Exmor R sensor with an expandable ISO sensitivity range spanning 50 to 204800, enabling the capture of smooth gradations, fine details and textures, while reducing noise, all within its impressive 15-stop dynamic range.

Advanced AF performance
The BIONZ XR processor – the same as the one used in Sony’s flagship Alpha 1 – delivers up to 10 fps shooting with uninterrupted continuous high-speed AF/AE tracking, with 759 phase-detection AF points in a high-density focal plane phase-detection AF system. And for the first time, Real-time Eye AF can now track birds’ and animals’ eyes (as well as those of humans) for both still images and video.
Unique new AF features include AF Assist to support focus transitions when using AF, and Focus Map that visualizes depth of field. And, for the first time in the Alpha series, this new camera also features Breathing Compensation that can be switched on or off to combat focus breathing and maintain a consistent angle of view throughout focus changes.
Advanced Movie Technology
The Alpha 7 IV also use the same highly regarded S-Cinetone picture profile as featured in Sony’s coveted Cinema Line models to deliver a rich, cinematic look, achieving exceptional video quality with 4K 60p recording in Super 35mm mode and up to 4K 30p recording with 7K oversampling available in full-frame mode.
This new camera also features 10-bit depth 4:2:2 colour sampling to enable natural gradation, plus XAVC S-I intra-frame encoding for more efficient editing workflows and XAVC HS H.265 long-GOP for doubled compression efficiency.
