The original Canon EOS 6D was released at the tail end of 2012 as a smaller, lighter and slightly cheaper full-frame alternative for photographers who wanted to make the jump to full-frame but perhaps couldn’t afford the 5D Mark III or were more interested in the built in GPS and Wi-Fi capabilities that the 5D Mark III lacked. Fast forward 5 years and we now have the new and improved 6D Mark II.

As with the original 6D, the Mark II is aimed at enthusiasts and “is ideal for budding photographers looking to take their creative DSLR photography skills to the next level by shooting with a Full-frame CMOS sensor DSLR camera to capture beautiful high-quality portraits and striking landscapes, even in low-light situations.”

    Canon 6D Mark IIImprovements

The Mark II features an upgraded 26.2-megapixel (up from 20.2MP) CMOS sensor and Canon’s newest DIGIC 7 Image Processor giving it an ISO range of 100 – 40,000. The new processor also allows for high-speed continuous shooting at up to 6.5fps (up slightly from 4.5fps).

One of the bigger improvements is the new 45 AF point – all cross-type points – autofocus system, compared to 11 AF points system in the original. The Mark II also features Dual Pixel CMOS AF on the sensor providing phase-detection autofocus with capturing Full HD 60p video recording.

    Fully-Articulating LCD Screen

In a first for Full-frame DSLR cameras, the Mark II boasts a 3-inch Vari-angle touch-screen LCD. The touch-screen means you can easily select and adjust focus, access menus and other quick control settings with a single finger touch. Two-finger gestures can also be used to control zoom or to change images.
